Bio

Born out of the often forgotten city of churches, two brothers began a wave of indie rock throughout the town that began the heads turning, feet tapping, bodies moving and hearts beating . After joining forces with one American born english major and a college drop out from Unley with hair to die for, the band snatched a handful of local and international supports across Australia. With their debut EP in tow, the band headed stateside for the first time during September and October 2007 where they travelled up and down the east coast as well as making the trek across the country from New York to Los Angeles playing shows wherever they could.

2008 has seen City Riots hit the bigger stages playing the Big Day Out, Soundwave and Fuse Festivals, while also making television appearances on Channel [V] and MTV. In May 2008, Martin Elbourne invited the band to play The Great Escape Festival in the UK, after watching one of the bands live shows. City Riots joined the steller line up of bands including Vampire Weekend, The Wombats and The Futureheads. The band also performed side shows in London before heading back to the US for the bands second US tour playing Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wave Gathering Festival in New Jersey and a bunch of US east coast headline shows.

It seems the catchy hooks and melodies lured in the suave Brooklyn based musician Alex Suarez of Cobra Starship and Ivy league fame. His indie dance remix of the bands tune Signs will feature on the second EP to be released November 1st 2008 along with the new single Burning Me Out recorded while on tour in the US last July.

The bands current self-titled debut EP release is available in stores through MGM or available online through iTunes Australia.
